Lafazanis Winery is a family story that began in 1946 and continues to this day, with a steadfast focus on quality, expertise, and respect for the Greek grape. From generation to generation, tradition evolves, transforming the land into identity and experience into creative continuity.
At the heart of this journey is Spyros Lafazanis, the person who gave the winery its modern expression of Greek wine. Today, he is joined by the third generation of the family, Athina Lafazanis and Vasilis Lafazanis, who shape the future with the same dedication, care, and forward-looking vision.
Lafazanis Winery is also a member of the EMPERIA GROUP – SPYROS LAFAZANIS, working in synergy with Nestor Wines and Ambelos. The slogan “The Grape Side of Life” expresses the common thread that unites them: the same team of people, a shared philosophy, and a holistic approach to the vine and its products. At the same time, the family character is preserved, and sustainable practices are systematically reinforced, making each unit “green.”
Each winery, however, maintains its own distinct identity, reflecting the land from which it comes. Lafazanis Winery is based in Greece’s largest viticultural zone, the Nemea P.D.O., specifically in Ancient Kleones, a place with deep historical and viticultural roots.

With respect for the environment, initiatives such as recycling, the use of photovoltaic systems, organic wastewater treatment, composting, and the collection and utilization of rainwater for careful vineyard irrigation have been adopted.

Under the guidance and vision of Spyros Lafazanis, the Nemea winery became a reference point for the creation of a broader ecosystem centered on the Greek grape.
The founder of the winery, Vasilis Lafazanis, produces wine for the first time in Piraeus, laying the foundations of the family’s winemaking journey.
Issuance of the first official winemaking license and formal establishment of the activity.
Operation of the first privately owned family winery in Magoula, Attica.
The second generation actively joins the business, with Spyros Lafazanis contributing scientific knowledge and a modern approach after completing his studies as a Chemist – Oenologist.
Relocation of production activities to the Nemea P.D.O. zone, strengthening the winery’s connection to its land.
Conversion of the company into a Public Limited Company, strengthening its structure and organizational operations.
Structural separation of the commercial division, aimed at functional specialization.
The Nemea winery continues its independent path of development, with a clear focus on quality and evolution.
Establishment of a company for producing juice from Greek grapes under the brand AMBELOS.
